Holiday Market This Sunday!

Slow down a little this hectic holiday season.  Come by the Town Hall 10am-1:30pm this Sunday (December 14) and take a stroll through the farmers’ market.  Over 20 vendors are selling everything you need for your table and your tree.

You’ll find all the essentials: eggs, cheese, all kinds of meats, and a wide assortment of the most essential veggies, like potatoes, onions, garlic, squash.  Lots of winter market produce stores very well for weeks.  How about fresh cranberries for making homemade cranberry sauce?  Set a local table for the holidays!

Many food products make wonderful gifts too, like jars of honey, maple syrup, jams and other canned goods.  Come try a sample of some specialty chocolate bars and truffles!  You’ll find soaps, lotions, and unique craft items too, like colorful baskets and homemade toys!

This Sunday, we are also selling raffle tickets for a special holiday raffle basket, filled with items donated by the vendors.  Take a chance on the raffle, and consider making your own basket of local treats – makes a perfect gift!

See you Sunday!

Strong First Season! See You Next Winter!

The first season of the Berwick Winter Farmers’ Market was a tremendous success.  More customers came out each time.  Many volunteers, including students, were there to help.  We had live music, special presentations, and guests like the Library, Great Works Regional Land Trust, and the Berwick Art Association.  Best of all was the feeling in the room.  Full of energy and community spirit!  It was wonderful to see people getting to know their local food producers and enjoying the chance to come out with their families and chat with friends.

Thank you to the Town for allowing us to use the Town Hall.  Thank you to all the vendors, the volunteers, and the customers.  You all gave the market the strong start it needed to continue.

The Berwick Winter Market will return earlier next season, most likely November.  Check back here in the fall for all the details!

In the meantime, please continue to support your local food producers through the summer.  Seacoast Eat Local’s Seacoast Harvest is an excellent resource for finding markets and vendors near you: http://seacoastharvest.org/

Thank you for another wonderful market! Don’t miss the last one March 16th!

Our second market was once again preceded by a snowstorm, but the Berwick Public Works department cleared the parking lots in time for them to be filled with about 100 more customers than attended the January market!  Thank you all for braving the weather to support the Berwick market!

Not only did we have more customers, we had several new vendors.  We also had some new guest tables with information about local projects: the Berwick Public Library and the Great Works Regional Land Trust.  They will be back along with another full house of food vendors on Sunday March 16th.  Don’t miss the last Berwick market of this season!

First Berwick Market a Smashing Success! Next One February 16th!

A few flurries could not stop the first Berwick Winter Farmers’ Market!  Nearly 400 people arrived at the Town Hall today with contagious enthusiasm.  Volunteers were indispensable, many of them students who stayed from opening bell to closing time.  Vendors and consumers left excited for the next market (Feb 16th – mark your calendars!).

Thank you to this incredible community who came out to show what local food means to us.

Sunday February 16th, they’ll be even more vendors providing even greater variety of fresh and prepared foods.  Check back to find out who will be performing live music.  It’ll be just the right time to look forward to planting your garden, so don’t miss Matt Kochka’s presentation.  The Berwick Art Association will be back, and we may have other guests as well.  Stay tuned and keep your shopping bags handy!

This market warmed many hearts this January.  We are incredibly grateful for so much support and look forward to building on a strong start.  This is your Berwick Farmers’ Market… see you next month!
